When Washizu and Akira are called to the main castle known as the Spider's Web they ride through the dense forest during a rainstorm, which sets the mood for when they will later run into the spirit. There is plenty of other great symbolism as well such as a horse gone wild as an ill sign of what will befall its master, a performance about betrayal that capture the plots, and then a constant wind envelopes Washizu's castle that hints that things are about to change. My favorite scene however might be when Washizu is being cornered by arrows. This was shot using college students shooting real arrows at Mifune with no insurance. Something that would never be done today. It's really one of the most memorable things you'll see in a movie. This is really a classic production by Kurosawa that looks beautiful, has an inspired performance by Mifune and Isuzu Yamada as his wife, and a great plot.
