It recognizes my 1080p version as the Extended Edition just fine. I'm at a loss for what to do next. Is it the different file type that is throwing off Plex? I wouldn't think so since Plex's own guidance shows two different file types in the example. What am I doing wrong here? Kinda losing my mind trying to get Plex to just recognize the movie file as the extended edition. SOLUTION from comments: Have all versions (theatrical and extended) in the same folder. \Movies\ ---> \The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)\ ------> \ The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) [Extended] [BluRay - 4k] ------> \ The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) [Extended] [iTunes - 1080p]. mp4 ------> \ The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) [Theatrical] [BluRay - 4k] When Plex adds them to Library, split them apart so there are three Library entries. Select the two Extended versions and Merge them again. Edit metadata and it will work.
