Un par de gatos llaman su atención y la dirigen hacia los dos tesoros de la bruja, la flor azul y la escoba. A partir de ahí, gracias a los efectos de la planta, Mary llega a un lugar situado sobre las nubes y luego a la Universidad Endor, con sus extraños profesores... Todo parece dispuesto para un interesante relato de aprendizaje. Cómo Mary desarrolla sus poderes de bruja (como metáfora de su crecimiento y madurez) viviendo aventuras a lo Harry Potter, y destapa lo que ocurre realmente en esa escuela, donde algo huele a podrido... Sin embargo, la promesa se esfuma y la trama da un aburrido giro: Mary debe salvar a su interés romántico y evitar que los villanos ejecuten su malvado plan. En definitiva, todo se encamina a un cuento muy sencillo y obvio, donde la narración no está al nivel de las hermosas imágenes (el trabajo de los animadores merece disfrutarse en la pantalla más grande posible). Todo lo que ofrece suena a ya visto antes, y contado con más ingenio. Demuestra que puedes copiar el estilo visual y los temas de Ghibli, pero no la magia de sus mejores largometrajes (no todos están a la misma altura, claro, pienso en 'Cuentos de Terramar').

While the film was very slow moving, I was astonished by its high-quality camera and sound production.
