Todavía la conservo incólume. No fue sino hasta 2012 que pude satisfacer mi curiosidad cuando, ya ateo y casado con una esposa católica, encontramos el DVD en una tienda, libre de todo velo judicial. Cuando la película finalizó, nuestro primer pensamiento fue… ¿y por esto era tanto escándalo? Para mí, además quedó claro que quienes pidieron su censura nunca se tomaron siquiera la molestia de verla, porque no sólo carecía de las supuestamente escandalosas escenas que involucraban a Cristo (sí, tiene sexo con María Magdalena pero no se muestra en forma morbosa), sino que reconociendo ser ficción, ofrece una de las versiones más humildes y sinceras que haya visto de la historia de Jesús. Lejos del aura divina que le habían dado otros directores, Scorsese tomó la novela de Nikos Kazantzakis para mostrar a un Jesús dubitativo, que comete errores y se muestra temeroso de los planes que Dios pone en su camino. Un Jesús que ama a María Magdalena pese a sus pecados, y que incluso es capaz de poner en riesgo su propia vida para salvarla.
OK the bounty is still there but its like all the ghosts of Riddick's past come to get him. Which makes this movie kinda of campy. But still a good watch.
