La película es un extraordinario thriller que recuerda a Speed, una cinta que ha cumplido hace poco los veinte años de vida, en la que Sandra Bullock y Keanu Reeves intentan que no se detenga un autobús, o mejor que no baje la velocidad de 50 millas porque de hacerlo explotaría una bomba que ha colocado el estupendo villano de la cinta Dennis Hooper. La película estaba dirigida por el habitual director de fotografía Jan de Bont que aquí se pasaba a la dirección. Demostró una estupenda veteranía a pesar de ser un director novel. La fotografía era extraordinaria y los actores daban mucha credibilidad a la cinta, entre ellos Jeff Daniels. El desconocido dura sólo 98 minutos y es densa, ágil, con buenos efectos especiales y buenas actuaciones. Se hace corta en definitiva. Nos deja sin respiro prácticamente durante todo el metraje. En la película Carlos, Luis Tosar, es un ejecutivo de Banca, concretamente director de una sucursal bancaria, que empieza el día con la rutina habitual de llevar a sus hijos, Sara y Marcos, al colegio.
